The elements that carry the most weight are the title and the subtitle or short description, because both are indexed and both are what somebody reads first. Put the actual function in there rather than only the brand name, since almost nobody searches for a business they have not heard of. The keyword field on one platform is indexed and never displayed, which means it should hold terms rather than sentences, without repeating anything already in the title.

Visual elements determine conversion rather than ranking, and that distinction matters because they are optimised differently. The icon, the screenshots, and the preview video decide whether somebody who found you taps install. The first two screenshots do most of that work, and they should show what the app does with a caption explaining it rather than presenting bare interface. Most people never scroll past those two.

Ratings and reviews feed both ranking and conversion, which makes them the item with the most return and the hardest to manufacture legitimately. Prompt for a rating after somebody has completed something successfully rather than on launch, never prompt somebody who has just experienced an error, and respond to negative reviews, because the response is visible and updated ratings are possible.

Treat it as ongoing rather than a launch task. Both stores allow updating your listing independently of the app itself, and testing different screenshots or a revised subtitle costs nothing. The businesses that treat the listing as fixed after launch leave most of the available installs unclaimed.

Watch what your competitors do in the store, because their listings are public and their changes are visible. Which terms they place in the title, how they structure their screenshots, and what they emphasise in the first two lines. This is not an argument for copying them, and it is the cheapest available research into what the audience for your category responds to. Checking a handful of comparable apps once a quarter takes twenty minutes and regularly surfaces something obvious that you had not considered describing. Change one element at a time and leave it long enough to see a difference, since altering the icon, title, and screenshots together tells you the listing improved without telling you which change did it.
